Service Update

Working with Children Check Victoria (WWCCV) is currently operating at limited capacity to minimise risk to its staff and to the community. As a result, the time taken to process applications, assessments and requests may be longer than usual.

We communicate with applicants, card holders and organisations by email. To assist us in communicating with you, please ensure your email address is accurate. Applicants and card holders can update their details on Update my details (External link)

Incorrect charges

We recently became aware that between 1 July 2022 and 15 July 2022 applicants for Working with Children Checks processed at Australia Post outlets were incorrectly charged an additional 10 cents.

If you would like to claim a refund, please email us on remedyteam@justice.vic.gov.au (External link).

Transactions

Online application services including Apply for a Check, Update details, Renew my card, Change of name and Change from Volunteer to Employee Check are still available.

The Apply from interstate transaction is not currently available.

Postage delivery delays

Postage delivery delays across the Australia Post network mean that correspondence sent from and to WWCCV may take longer to arrive. This includes WWC Check cards, correspondence and notices sent to organisations.

Confirm the status of a Victorian WWC Check application or card online at any time at Check Status.

New requirement for teachers registered with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)

Teachers and early childhood teachers registered with the VIT continue to be exempt from holding a WWC Check but from 1 September 2019, must notify Working with Children Check Victoria (WWCCV) of any child-related work they do outside of their teaching in a school or early childhood service (regardless of whether it is paid or voluntary work).

If VIT suspends or cancels the registration of a teacher or early childhood teacher, WWCCV may notify the organisations where the teacher engages in child-related work that their teacher exemption from a WWC Check no longer applies.

To notify WWCCV of their child-related work (other than teaching in a school or early childhood service), VIT registered teachers and early childhood teachers must complete the 'Teacher notification' form. This form must be completed before the end of the 2019 school year.
